Guisborough Choral Society is a mixed voice choir
(Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass)
Definitions
Soprano | Alto | Tenor | Bass
NEW MEMBERS - NO AUDITIONS!
The Society is always open to receiving new members. There are no initial auditions, but the ability of new members to blend with the choir will be reviewed by the conductor after a few weeks. Members are expected to be able to read music and understand common musical notation. Although Sopranos and Altos mostly tend to be women and Tenors and Basses are usually men, it is not a hard and fast rule - it is purely down to the range of an individuals voice that matters when selecting which part to sing.
ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION / GIFT AID
An annual subscription is payable to meet the running costs of the society. Members are asked to complete a Gift Declaration form, where appropriate, so that the society, as a registered charity, can claim back the tax that they (or their spouse or parents) have paid on the subscription.
ACCESSIBILITY
Please state on the form below if you have any particular accessibility requirements. The society will do everything they can to assist in this respect. Sunnyfield House has no disabled entrance at the front, but can be accessed via the rear door from the carpark behind the building. Our normal concert venues, St Nicholas Church and the Guisborough Methodist Church are both wheelchair accessible.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening during school term-times, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm (with a short break).
MUSIC
Copies of music being rehearsed for concerts are provided by the Society, some of which are hired for the purpose. Members are requested to treat all such music with care, and to erase all pencil marking once the work has been performed. Some members prefer to purchase their own copies, but if considering doing so, please check with the society's librarian which version is used, as this greatly helps when identifying places in the score.
I wish to become a member of the Guisborough Choral Society.
