Rebecca Johnson

Musical Director

Rebecca is well-known on Teesside as a highly accomplished educator and musician. She studied both 'cello and piano at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and studied piano with Richard McMahon at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She holds diplomas in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) and CME (Certificate of Music Education).

 

Rebecca enjoys a wide range of musical activities as pianist, 'cellist, and choral conductor. She headed up the learning and engagement programme at Middlesbrough Town Hall from 2012 to 2019, before becoming Manager of MUSINC, the musical inclusion and engagement arm of Middlesbrough Town Hall.

 

Two years ago Rebecca took up a new role at The Glasshouse (formerly 'The Sage') Gateshead, as Senior Producer for the Make Music programme.

 

Rebecca took over as Musical Director of the Guisborough Choral Society on 6th September 2017.
